Hi Everyone,
In today’s blog there is a video of Act Leader David Seymour being interviewed on Maori TV about co-governance.
It’s really important that you read what I have read in the video description and act on it.
Finally, be sure to post comments on the web site www.stopcogovernance.kiwi
Every time you post a comment, it helps our rankings on Google which means more Kiwis will find the site.
Thanks so much.
Yours in the fight for our once beautiful country.

I now think I know who I am voting for next year, David is the first New Zealand politician I have seen since I gained the ability to vote who isn’t absolutely gutless. BTW I am Maori, I and many other Many Tangata Whenua are sick of the cultural and political elites in Auckland and Wellington Hijacking our culture for political & Ideological gain.
Your comment George is a breath of fresh air. I suspect there are many many more Maori like you who observe that it is not all the 15% living Maori but only the few 1% of politically connected activist Maori who are materially benefiting from this political gouging of the nations commons and taxed resources. It is heart warming to observe that not all Maori are blind or ignorant of true history and understand the myths, lies, and revisionist history being portrayed in their name. Falsities that sadly bring a taint on all Maoridom, due to their not being rebuked by intelligent Maori.
Too many Maori are hiding under the false cloak of silence masquerading as respect for elders and culture when in fact that silence is being proclaimed as acceptance. The Treaty was a colourblind Treaty, it gave citizen rights and obligations equally to all under a common law. No question that law has not always been administered as equally, but then any group that consistently flouts the law would encounter a similar prejudice. The answer is to correct the application to restore the equality of the system, NOT to create a further bias with separated systems. I ponder on the alternative, Without the treaty and its colour-blind equality, without the security and knowledge imparted with Citizenship, where would Maori be today. The native lifestyle that the activists so promote was fraught with health risk, let us not forget how diseases and Spanish flu all but decimated the Maori population around the turn of last century.
besides setting the record for incarceration mainly due to persistent antisocial behaviors, the record of health care consumer usage to correct basic failings in diet, sanitation, addictive substances and careless abuse are fast looking to emulate the same pattern of consumer overuse.
England discarded top down direct administration by the Monarch when it overpowered King John to install democratically elected Government.
The root cause of Maori problems is not colonialism but Tribalism. Tribalism directly mimics all the shortcomings of early middle eastern and european kingship, namely nepotism, incompetence and corruption, most of which cannot be removed by the nature of its hereditary installation. The Treaty removed the enslavement of ordinary Maori from all that. The Treaty conferred individual Citizenship on every individual Maori. Now certain politically connected activists want to re-install tribalism with their new corporate form of chieftainship as the head. Tribalism that enslaves Maori to the impoverishment of chieftainly handouts all subject to compliance and loyalty to the chieftains agenda. Motivation power but mostly GREED. Thinking Maori should embrace and celebrate their NZ citizenship and allow their cultural heritage to be their history of identity, NOT to allow their cultural heritage to be corrupted to be the means of renewed tribal enslavement. For redress Maori should en-mass fall upon the Tribal Incorporations that have accepted reparations and demand accountability for EVERY Maori in their district, seek the redistribution that they are entitled, before the wealth is contracted away to the close affiliates of the activist elite. It is not Enough George just to be sick of abuse, you have to redress it at its source by demanding accountability, so start with your own Tribal Incorporations. Where is the Pan Tribal Maori Bank to lend to Maori families on Maori land looking to invest in their families future by securing family homes. Start with that.
David Seymour made her look foolish —- arrogant, closed minded , ignorant and totally. biased . She did not listen at all and had obviously come just to attack David Seymour and ram her own views down the audiences throat. A very poor interviewer!
Additional comment. —- The interviewer reminded me very strongly of a “totally brainwashed” Trump supporter. . Same characteristics.
Hugh Perrett
David Seymour reinforces my view that ACT are the only party who are in Parliament for the betterment of the country and not their own self interest. Neither of the so called major parties show any concern except for their own outdated dogma. If only we could harness Winston “loose cannon” Peters and his NZ First supporters to ACT then we would really have an opposition party who says it like it is and could form the Government.
Grant, did you read my description of the video on Youtube? If not, please do.
This is what I wrote:
————————
Act leader David Seymour debating with Maori TV presenter Moana Maniapoto. To his credit, he is trying to stop co-goverance and apartheid. 10/10 for that. In this respect he is miles ahead of Luxon.
Winston Peters is much better than the two of them.
I think David was weak in this debate. If he’d memorised the Treaty, he could have / should have brought the discussion around to the Treaty, and stayed on this topic. The key issue in the whole co-governance debacle is ‘What does the Treaty say? ”
Please treat this video as a learning exercise – a tutorial. It illustrates the need to know the treaty. It also illustrates the need to know the Treatyists are thinking i.e. the interviewer.
Memorise the Treaty. Below is the Littlewood final draft, from which the Maori Version of the Treaty was made. The Maori version is called Te Tiriti. The Treaty In Maori is THE Treaty. There is no other. The Treaty Twisters would tell your otherwise. Don’t buy into it.
They have also tried to change the meaning of some key words in the three articles, namely : possession (article 2), sovereignty (article 1), and property (article 2). Don’t buy into these changes either.
So if you want to know what the Maori version says in English, here it is:
—————————————————
Article One:
“The chiefs of the confederation of united tribes, and the other chiefs who have not joined the confederation, cede to the Queen of England forever the entire sovereignty of their country.”
Article Two:
“The Queen of England confirms and guarantees to the chiefs and the tribes and to all the people of New Zealand, the possession of their lands, dwellings and all their property. But the chiefs of the Confederation of the United Tribes and the other chiefs grant to the Queen the exclusive rights of purchasing such lands as the proprietors thereof may be disposed to sell at such prices as may be agreed upon between them and the person appointed by the Queen to purchase from them.”
Article Three:
“In return for the cession of their sovereignty to the Queen, the people of New Zealand shall be protected by the Queen of England and the rights and privileges of British subjects will be granted to them.”
——————————–
What must you remember?
First, it says Maori ceded sovereignty to the Queen entirely and forever.
Second, it says that all New Zealanders, as British citizens, would be treated equally.
Third, there is absolutely no mention of co-governance or partnership. It’s just not there. These concepts / ideas are just made up by the Treatyists, the Treaty Twisters.
If we stick to what the Treaty actually says, we will be on safe ground. The ground of truth. We all need to know the basic facts of the Treaty. It’s important. David said he was not an expert on the Treaty. I think someone in his position ought to be. I can guarantee the interviewer would not know what the Treaty actually says. If she did, she would not have asked such silly / irrelevant questions.

Two people have shown honesty and courage recently and they are Julian and David.
We need people of the caliber of David in parliament to bury forever the rabid Maori elite who live in a dream world for them and a nightmare for the rest of inc most Maori I bet.
What makes an expert on the trey is one of the simplest documents one could ever come across. You can interpret it and insert all kinds of bullshit but it won’t change its simplicity..
Well done David
I agree the Treaty is a very simple document. Elite Maori have twisted and contorted it beyond recognition. How have politicians have allowed this to happen? They have been 1. history ignorant 2. Easily bullied 3. Cowardly 4. Woke 5. Not acting like true leaders who will do what is right, regardless of consequences. In combination, these five factors have resulted in the disaster we now face.
It’s easy to say the David Seymour was weak in this ‘debate’ but quite unfair in my opinion. The dice was loaded completely against him and to be fair he stayed in topic and stayed squarely on attack when necessary. Beyond that he is easily the best weapon we have at this time and makes Luxon look like the spineless weakling he is proving to be.
I call on everyone to give him and ACT the support that they deserve and save the petty shots for national who richly deserve them!
For me, David Seymour should be lauded as an aspirational and indeed inspirational role model for the 21st century, modern Maori.
Unfortunately too few people understand the concept of democracy – and why it is the only acceptable system to provide an over all voice for all the people. For all our multi-cultures.
Too many people now, only believe the “injustices” of the past towards Maori ( when in fact there were, and still are, huge advantages shared with them as a result of “colonisation” ) -and seem to think that destroying our democratic system will compensate for these ” injustices”. Only democratic governance can improve opportunities for all. The opposite would happen if co-governance is progressed – controlled by very small elites. It would result in no progress at all.
I admire David for standing up and trying to expose what the elitist maori are trying to push through before they are voted out. I do wonder if the Maori caucus have something on Jacinda…they have taken over.
You cannot build a future by continually looking back. Moana Maniopoto is a classic personification of what our future holds when lies and deceit are accepted as truth.
Winston and David should bury the hatchet, form a coalition, and put the interests of New Zealand ahead of personal grievances.
The battle for democracy requires a united front.
William…I totally agree!
Well said.
