Your byline hits the nail on the head!
It’s a blue print for rampant apartheid in the rural sector and it’s going to create further racial division.
Labour’s bad faith is exposed by their stereotyping of members of one particular group, New Zealand Maori.
In fact they fall into the trap by implicitly declaring that Maori are inferior and all other New Zealand farmers are superior.
Welcome to apartheid..
‘Quara’ makes reference to the fact that “All cultures are equally special and neither is superior nor inferior to one another. The problem lies when there is a lack of respect for diversity”. ..
Steven H Wu, writing in the HuffPost states that.”Biased actions are the inevitable result of biased opinions. Here, the intolerance verging on contempt is open rather than hidden. In a democracy, robust discussion is a right and a responsibility. Given our diversity, however, such dialogue depends on respect and equality”.
Unfortunately this government fails on both counts..
Can’t believe the government are so hell bent on emissions from farming. Overseas is where it needs to happen. We have returned and pollution overseas is horrendous. What about all the aeroplanes
We signed the Paris accord.
Clearly states in the preamble and clause 2b, nothing we do to limit emissions should limit food production or cause hunger.
Food security is becoming more important.
New Zealand farmers are the most efficient in the world and sending production overseas to less efficient farmers won’t do anything for limiting climate change, assuming of course anything humans can do will make a difference, which is at the best, doubtful.
There are many farmers, other than Maori that farm poor quality land, do they not count.
Just more racist garbage from this government.
Reading your article helped me a lot and I agree with you. But I still have some doubts, can you clarify for me? I’ll keep an eye out for your answers.

Colin, I agree entirely. It’s simply more apartheid.
You ask a good question Ann. Ardern is only doing this to boost her personal profile.
