” .. there is a natural tendency to hold on to the old and familiar, particularly when we are the main beneficiaries.”
Yes, this is the kind of language that doesn’t just capitulate but that entirely supports the Maori power grab, by implying that it is in danger of being rejected simply because it is “new and unfamiliar” rather than because it is trying to shaft us all, as would an invasion by another country.
Let’s turn this around, don’t let an internal power grab, a coup, by “old and familiar” tribal entities lull and lure us into submission any more than if it was an invasion by a foreign power.
Great comment Ron. I am going to borrow what you have written and put it into my blog. You are so so right. It’s a comment all should see. Keep them coming.
I am a proud supporter of STOP CO-GOVERNANCE and read the blogs with interest and 99% of the blogs I agree with. However on this occasion I have to support the propositions of those espoused by Davis Lillis’s in the article from NEW ZEALAND Center Political Research. The reasons I have come to that position is the sheer weight of support from the large service providers, government departments and the government itself. Even Teflon luxon [he moarified Air NEW ZEALAND and has stated he is learning the maori language], the leader of the opposition is silent on this maori tribe takeover and has stated overtly he supports CO GOVERNANCE. I have crossed swords with many large organization because their use of maori words and phrases when communicating with me. All have stated it is their intention to continue using moari language, and I can go to hell. So the institution and its allies have built up a large momentum and has provided such support for the moari zealots that i am unable I am to envisage a return to democracy and free speech. No I believe the bastards have won the battle. BUT WE MUST NOW WIN THE WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We do need a miracle or a Messiah. Bring back Winston Peters!
If only Luxon realised that in learning Maori, he is fuelling the fire of the Maori elite. If he was learning the language in times of peace, no problem. But these are not times of peace. These are times of war, and a coup is going on. Anyone who touches the Maori language, in any way, in times of war, is unwittingly fuelling the fires of the coup.
You are correct Julian, fight fire with fire. Sooner or later separatism has to be confronted, the sooner the better. Attitude is vital. great post.
Don mac
But Julian, you still have not told the people where this democracy came from. It was definately not from the Treaty. So where?
I’ll tell ou once again, it came from Queen Victoria’s Royal Charter/Letters Patent date 16 November 1840. This Royal Charter made New Zealand into a British Colony with a Governor and Constitution that set up our political, legal and justice systems under one flag and one law. It’s called democracy and it applied to all the people living in New Zealand from 3 May 1841 until the present day and hopefully will continue for ever.
Maori agreed to become British Subjects with the same rights as the people of England when their chiefs signed the Treaty in 1840 under English law based on democacy of one vote one people.
I agree, it’s time we fought to keep our democracy, but first we must know how New Zealand became a democratic country and what we are fighting for.
